How Cognatu works
🔒
Privacy-first targeting
Ads match the topic of a page or conversation, not a user's history — no cookies, no tracking IDs. Targeting is topic/geo/audience-prompt based, matched semantically, never a specific user profile.

Real-time auction
Every ad slot runs a fresh second-price auction, capped at 45ms, so it never slows down the app it's shown in. Campaigns, Ad Manager line items, and marketplace inventory all compete in the same auction.

Second-price CPM
You bid your maximum CPM; you're charged just above the next-highest bid that would have won, never your full bid.

📊 Dashboard
The Dashboard is your account's home page. The four KPI cards (Total Spend, Impressions, Avg CPM, Active Campaigns) summarize activity over the selected date range (7d/30d/90d, or Live). The Live Feed streams individual impressions in real time as they're served — useful for confirming a new campaign or line item is actually winning auctions right after you launch it. Below that, the Campaigns list gives a quick summary of your legacy flat campaigns; use the Campaigns or Ad Manager nav items for the full management view.
▶
📦 Campaigns
Campaigns are the simplest way to run demand: one bid CPM, one daily budget, topic targeting, and a single ad — no separate order/line-item/creative setup. Use Campaigns when you just want to get a single ad live quickly. Use Ad Manager instead when you need multiple line items under one budget umbrella, delivery-goal pacing, an approval workflow, or per-line-item creative assignment — the GAM-style hierarchy described below.
▶
📋 Ad Manager
Ad Manager mirrors Google Ad Manager's structure: an Order is the commercial umbrella (a date range and, optionally, a total budget) under which you create one or more Line Items — each with its own bid CPM, targeting, delivery goal, and creative.
Type / priority — Sponsorship, Standard, Network, Price Priority, and House map to auction priority tiers (Sponsorship ranks highest). Within a tier, line items compete by CPM in a second-price auction alongside Campaigns and marketplace inventory.
Delivery goal & pacing — set a goal (impressions, clicks, or spend) and a pacing style (even, front-loaded, or ASAP) to control how quickly the goal is pursued across the flight dates.
Hourly budget smoothing — an optional per-line-item setting (in the line item editor) that caps spend within each hour of the day to a share of a daily USD budget, based on historical demand, instead of letting a line item front-load all its spend into the first hour it's eligible.
Frequency cap — limits how many times the same device can be shown a line item's ad within a rolling window.
Approval workflow — a new line item starts as draft. Click Submit to move it to pending review; an admin then approves it to delivering or rejects it back to draft with a reason. Only delivering line items serve in the live auction.
Filters & bulk actions — filter by status/type, save a filter combination as a named preset for one-click reuse, and select multiple line items to pause/resume them together.
▶
🗂️ Inventory
Inventory is a read-only browser of active ad units across every publisher — their supported ad types, floor CPM, geo coverage, and a coarse traffic-volume tier (low/medium/high, not an exact count). It's meant to inform the floor-CPM and geo expectations you set on a line item before creating it. It's informational only: there's no ad-unit-level targeting field, so nothing here plugs directly into targeting — line items still target by topic/geo/audience, and compete for whichever ad unit's auction they're eligible for.
▶
🎨 Creative Studio
Creatives are reusable ad copy (headline, body, CTA, destination URL) — one creative can be assigned to multiple line items. Run "Check safety" before launch to screen copy against brand-safety rules. Assign a creative to a line item from the line item editor's Creative dropdown, or straight from here via "+ Create new creative."
▶
👁 Ad Preview
The simulator shows how a chosen creative is injected into a simulated LLM response for a given conversation topic — the same "ad after the first paragraph" placement real integrations use. It's a visual sanity check before launch, not a live auction — it doesn't consume budget or count as an impression.
▶
💳 Budget & Billing
Your account balance funds every campaign and line item's spend. Top up any amount from a preset or a custom value. Auto-recharge (configurable here) tops up automatically once your balance drops below a threshold you set, so campaigns don't pause mid-flight for lack of funds. The transaction history table shows every top-up and downloadable receipt.
▶
📈 Analytics
Pick a day-count preset or a custom date range to see impressions, CTR, conversions, spend, and average CPM, plus trend/distribution charts, performance broken down by entity (campaign/line item) and by creative, per-line-item pacing status, and a topic-reach heatmap.
Saved reports — click "💾 Save this report" to name and store the currently-active date selection; a saved report appears as a chip you can click anytime to re-run it with one click, without re-entering the range.
Use "⬇ CSV" to export the full report for a period.
▶
⚙️ Settings
API Access — rotate your API key to issue a new one; the old key keeps working for a 24-hour grace window so you can update integrations without downtime.
Team — invite teammates as Member (can use the portal) or Admin (can also invite members and manage billing). Only owners/admins see the invite control.
Agencies — link an agency to your account so it can manage campaigns/orders you explicitly share with it, while billing stays entirely under your control. Agencies never get access beyond what you share.

🎯 Targeting syntax
This same targeting form appears on both Campaigns and Ad Manager line items:
Topic targeting — a comma-separated list of topics (e.g. "travel, finance"). Leave blank to match every topic.
Minimum relevance score — how closely a conversation's topic must match yours (0–1) before your ad is eligible; higher is stricter and lowers reach.
Require ZK proof of attribute — restricts eligibility to requests carrying a zero-knowledge proof for your required topics, a stricter, smaller-reach match.
Geo targeting — comma-separated ISO country codes and/or H3 geo cells; leave blank to match anywhere.
Target audience (free text) — describe who you want to reach in plain language (e.g. "frequent travelers, hotel bookings"); matched by meaning, not a fixed category list.
The "Estimated reach" panel below these fields updates live as you adjust them, showing available impressions over your flight dates and a confidence tier based on how much history backs the estimate.
